May be good in person but don't order by mail! I purchased a small item to be part of a gift and they jammed it into a box, ruining the packaging. They won't take responsibility for shipping an ungiftable item. This was my first and last time ordering from them. Beware!
Mast General Store has the best variety of candy around. You pick up an apple basket and you are all set to dig in. You literally are a small child running loose in a candy store. Candy is priced by the weight and it has stuff that you cannot find eleswhere. Outside is a little ice cream booth and the other side of the store is for an outdoors store with bunch of camping and clothing gear. There is also a second floor with old tyme southern living household stuff. Very reminiscent of the older mercantile stores of the 1940's. By far the best candy store there is in NC. Most people visit the one in Boone but just down the round is the original store in Valle Crucis--it's the better one :)
Great place to take in some nostalgia, play a game of checkers, and pick up some candy or mountain gear.
